Franke : FF200 Value Line Pull-Out Faucet with Sprayhead - Polished Chrome Review

(More customer reviews)We bought two of these faucets for our home and an apartment 3 years ago. I am now replacing both.

My comments:

Though Franke claims all brass, the shower head is "all" plastic.

The lock button on top of the shower head is impossible to use if your hands are wet. It is a truly stupid design.

The regulator handle on both units need too much pressure to control and are not smooth in operation. As a result, it is very difficult to get the flow we're looking for.We resort to nudges and beating it gently to adjust water flow.

On one faucet, it is very difficult to move the head side to side. It has binded and dismantling it shows no apparent problems and oiling it did no good.

The other faucet recently started to leak.

The prices shown above are both more than we paid from a boutique decorative hardware store.

You can do a lot better elsewhere.

(More customer reviews)We got a 900-10503CP "Tuscany (R) Brass Faucet" for $82.99 from Menards to replace a 12 yr old, leaking kitchen faucet. Fittings / couplings are metal - fit snug. DIY installation went smoothly - no surprises. Instructions showed diagrams of 3-Hole installation - ours was Single-Hole installation - lack of diagram presented an initial stumbling block, because I had never done this sort of install before, but by no means a show-stopper. We've had the faucet installed for a week now - works great - very smooth operation, faucet movement is free / not binding or jerky, handle to turn water on/partial/off/hot/warm/cold much smoother and more consistent than original equipment. Based on cost/value, ease of installation, and operation/function to date, I would recommend this model, but be warned, the box label says Made In China, although that was covering a label that said Made In Singapore, so my bet is that it'll be free of the problems that plague products from main-land China.

Elkay Kitchen Faucet LK7420 Review

(More customer reviews)We loved putting this industrial looking faucet in our new kitchen.However, within one year's time, the sprayer function didn't switch back to a stream when we turned the faucet off and on again.The Elkay CS people went above and beyond when I called them, sending me a new faucet head and requesting that I send my defective one to them, so they could determine the problem.There was no cost to me in this exchange.But now, probably a year or so later, the new faucet head does the same thing and the faucet handle is getting difficult to use and makes a noise that sounds like something is broken inside the base of the faucet.Does it look great?Yes.Would I get a different faucet next time?Probably.

I purchased this at a national hardware retailer about 6 months ago, and I can't say enough just how much I regret this purchase; it has been nothing but a headache. If I could rate it below ONE STAR, I would.

See this link, or cut and paste: it's the same faucet... in "Stainless", with ALL of the EXACT SAME PROBLEMS: Price Pfister 53P50SS Genesis Single-Handle Kitchen Faucet with Pull-Down Spout Sprayer and Soap Dispenser, Stainless Steel

The faucet right out of the box had the classic "Lazy Handle" Problem that is demonstrated by a reviewer's video in the 53P50SS review...this one's is on its fifth cartridge (including the original) and the problem has resolved...for now.

The overall build and feel are cheap and flimsy; this does not seem like it was built to last, lots of plastic finished over to "look" like metal.

Yes, while Price Pfister have been very good about customer support, I feel that it shouldn't have been necessary in the first place.

At one point they started talking about shipping fees, for the replacement parts that they were about to send me, to fix their terribly flawed product! Excuse me!?! It's not my fault that the design is lousy, and now when it needs replacement parts it's going to cost me (MORE) money in shipping and handling FOR THEIR FLAWED DESIGN! NO-WAY!

The Soap Dispenser is a complete piece of junk: the grommet, at the end of the soap spout pops out after about 6 weeks of use; I am on dispenser head #2, and I finally Shoe-Gooed the grommet back in, since RTV silicone didn't provide a durable repair (I'll leave a note later to see if this is a durable fix).

Overall, I have to say that even though Price Pfister have stood behind the design, I am skeptical about its continued durability.

The mere notion that they may start to charge me for freight for warranty replacement parts, is wholly unacceptable, because this means that the TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP of the product is simply unpredictable.

I bought Price Pfister because of the brand's reputation for "worry-free" service, but the Genesis Series just doesn't seem to pass muster. Growing up, Price Pfisters never seemed to malfunction... they were just reliable, sturdy and robustly built faucets: INSTALL AND FORGET.

I really think that Price Pfister should think hard, and recall these, and get back to the "solid basics" that have literally made them a "Fixture" in households for many years.

I have grave misgivings, not only about this product's durability, but now about Price Pfister in-general (The Black and Decker Group, they have Moen too.).

If it seems like I'm out to give Price Pfister a bad rap, that's just not the case; I'd like them to take notice, and I'd like other consumers to be aware that this faucet's design is unacceptably flawed.
